Backend Engineer (Java, PIX) - 1 Year Contract

Job Overview

We are looking for a hands-on engineer who enjoys writing code, solving complex backend problems, and building reliable payment systems. Experience with PIX is a strong advantage, but we also welcome strong Java backend engineers from payments, fintech, banking, and other transaction-intensive environments who can quickly learn the Brazilian payment ecosystem.

Key points

  1. Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable backend services using Java and Spring Boot to support PIX payment integrations and related payment flows in Brazil.

  2. Implement and optimize payment processing capabilities, including payment initiation, transaction status management, reconciliation, and exception handling.

  3. Integrate with Brazilian banks, payment service providers, and external financial systems through APIs and other integration mechanisms.

  4. Build reliable, high-performance backend systems with a strong focus on transaction consistency, idempotency, fault tolerance, and system availability.

  5. Strong hands-on backend development experience with Java and PIX, preferably using Spring Boot and related frameworks.

  6. Experience with PIX, Brazilian payment systems, or integrations with Brazilian banks and local payment service providers.

  7. Solid understanding of RESTful APIs, microservices architecture, distributed systems, and database design.

  8. Experience working with relational databases and SQL; familiarity with caching, messaging systems, and asynchronous processing is a plus.
