Senior Platform Engineer - Container Services

Job Overview

We are looking for a Senior Platform Engineer for the Container Services team in San Francisco. In this role, you will design, build, and operate critical infrastructure systems, drive automation and reliability improvements, and help scale Adyen's platform as we continue to grow globally.

Key points

  1. Build and operate core infrastructure: Design, implement, and maintain container orchestration (Kubernetes) and supporting infrastructure across our global private cloud.

  3. Own the availability and performance of critical platform systems, participate in on-call rotations, and drive incident response and postmortem processes that continuously improve our…

  4. Contribute to architectural decisions, evaluate new technologies, and help drive platform modernization initiatives — including migration strategies, multi-region resilience, and infrastructure standardization.

  5. Advanced skills in system administration, networking (TCP/IP, DNS, routing, firewalls), and security fundamentals. Comfortable troubleshooting complex issues across the stack.

  6. Container technologies expertise: Hands-on experience with Kubernetes at scale, cluster operations, networking, troubleshooting. Familiarity with HashiCorp tools (Terraform, Consul, Nomad…

  7. On-prem / bare-metal experience: Comfortable operating on-prem infrastructure (i.e. outside of public cloud), bare-metal provisioning, hardware lifecycle, storage, and datacenter operations.

  8. Strong scripting and programming skills: Intermediate-to-advanced Bash proficiency and intermediate-to-advanced skills in Python or Go. Ability to build production-quality tooling and automation.
