Job Overview

As a Senior Software Developer on the Monetization team, you'll lead technical initiatives and take significant ownership over service architecture, product API development, and data modeling.

Key points

  1. Design and implement scalable systems and infrastructures that support Coursera's backend services.

  2. Measure your work thoroughly, analyze results, and generate hypotheses to drive new product changes through A/B testing.

  3. Set up monitoring and testing of your APIs and services to understand real-time health and performance of your products.

  4. Participate in product discussions by proposing technical approaches and influencing roadmap decisions through data and system insights.

  5. Core competency for designing, developing, and maintaining backend systems at scale.

  6. Experience designing highly-scalable and performant microservices and storage layers using languages and infrastructure such as Java, Play, Scala, MySQL, Cassandra, Solr, or Kafka.

  7. Experience working in fast-moving team environments with frequent deployments.

  8. Background in using data and metrics to inform technical and product decisions.
