Job Overview

As a Senior Software Engineer on the Tax team within the Consumer & Business group, you'll build the extensible primitives that make each new Coinbase launch possible, where scale and accuracy are both non-negotiable.

Key points

  1. Own the design and delivery of backend systems for cost basis tracking, gain/loss calculation, withholding automation, and tax reporting infrastructure.

  2. Build new pipelines for broker reporting, automated withholding, and clearing integrations with partners as Coinbase expands into equities, margin, and options.

  3. Partner with Product, Design, Tax, Trading, and Positions teams to take ambiguous problems from scoping through production rollout.

  4. Drive an extensible tax architecture so every new product launch can plug into shared primitives without bespoke rework.

  5. Strong distributed systems fundamentals, with experience designing high-throughput services and data pipelines where correctness is critical.

  6. Track record owning complex systems end-to-end, from design through production operation, in fast-changing domains.

  7. Demonstrated ability to collaborate closely with product, design, and cross-functional partners to translate ambiguous requirements into shipped solutions.

  8. Utilizes generative AI responsibly, maintaining human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs and drive measurable improvements in workflow efficiency, cost, and quality.
