Frontend Engineer, UI Platform

Job Overview

As a Frontend Engineer on the Sail UI team, you’ll help build and evolve Stripe’s design system and the tools that enable engineers and AI coding agents to create high-quality user interfaces. You’ll independently drive frontend projects from problem definition through rollout, working closely with designers, product engineers, and other Sail engineers.

Key points

  1. Your work will range from reusable components, themes, and documentation to agentic tooling, automated quality checks, and modernizing the foundations of Stripe’s Dashboard.

  2. Take end-to-end ownership of software projects, independently scoping problems and carrying solutions through design, implementation, testing, and rollout.

  3. Build and maintain accessible, performant, and well-tested components, themes, and frontend APIs used across Stripe.

  4. Build tooling, documentation, and automated quality checks that help engineers and AI coding agents use Sail effectively and meet Stripe’s UI quality bar.

  5. We’re looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role.

  6. Fluency in using AI-assisted and agentic development tools as part of day-to-day software engineering, including critically reviewing, validating, and improving generated code.

  7. Strong knowledge of modern frontend technologies and frameworks, including browser fundamentals, responsive design, and accessibility.

  8. Ability to independently scope and deliver open-ended frontend projects, making practical technical and product tradeoffs with limited oversight.
